After last week's episode which seemed geared to advance the story, we are back in the whatever the equivalent of Monster Of The Week would be for Dollhouse. Doll of the week? Assignment of the week? Witless LJ'er accepts your submissions for snappier description with gratitude. Anyway, so this week Echo is placed as a back up singer but really a bodyguard, only neither the intended target nor Echo can know this. SPOILERS for episode )

Assuming that this week's episode wasn't a fluke, then I am now properly into this show. it's all starting to take shape plotwise with the Big Bad being introduced at the margins of things and all the characters starting to be fleshed out that bit more thoroughly. Yay!!

Usually when writing a review I find the need to list reasons in which I warn the reader that my reviews might not be entirely evenhanded due to to some petty fault of mine. In Heroes, being burned by past episodes makes it tricky to tell if things are actually getting better in any fair way, for example. I have a feeling Dollhouse might fall into the other phenomenon, wherein we sometimes tell ourselves that something is better than we in fact fear it truly is because we really WANT it to be good. I WANT Dollhouse to be great. Joss Whedon whilst having quibbles about from time to time is for me, ultimately nonetheless on the side of the angels with a sound track record of producing some of my favourite shows of the last 10 years. None of those shows I enjoyed more than Buffy the Vampire Slayer and no character I liked (or related to)  more than Faith as played by the amazing Eliza Dushku.  So Joss Whedon writes Eliza Dushku in her own show should be money in the bank as far as I'm concerned and yet...hmmn.
