I am not drawing gay snuggling in film class

That would be distracting.

(And fascinating to the guys who because of me have become vaguely aware of "a subculture of women displaying interest in gay porn", but it does not matter, because I am not doing it.)

And then I discovered the motherlode of Wild Adapter fic and drowned in it! But it was a happy drowning. I do not like to say that I am a person of favorites, as such--my tastes vary quite a bit, and sometimes I grow out of things I like or things I liked grow out of me, so the only thing I have been definitively able to say is my favorite of a particular category is Good Omens. Also orange. Because really. Orange. But in any case, just as Good Omens is my comfortable old shoe of books, I am starting to suspect Wild Adapter is my comfortable old shoe of manga; admittedly it is not that old in terms of when I first picked it up, and it's a bit more violent than one would usually associate with 'comfortable', and it's not even finished yet but she will finish it someday I am sure of it let me be hopeful okay, but it makes me happy. There is literally nothing about it that bothers me. Except that it is not finished yet, and that there is no anime, and that the fandom is tiny, but those are not its fault. It's something I can very easily pimp out and say, look! This is good! You will get attached to the characters! And it won't make you vaguely uncomfortable! (See: reasons I am sometimes hesitant to pimp out Hetalia or Kuroshitsuji.) Wild Adapter is just straight-up cozy. And violent. Seriously Kubota (guy with the glasses in my icon) kills like thirty guys in one of the volumes. And then goes home to presumably argue about who has to make dinner that night. It is my happy domesti-psychotic comfort food.

(--I am suddenly wondering what it would be like if Dexter met Kubota. Extremely interesting, I am betting. Although Tokito is more like Deb than Rita. I should catch up on Dexter one of these days.)

Other things that are violent but make me happy: Monster! I have now seen up through episode ten, and Tenma is the best brave little toaster, yes he is. I am half-expecting flowers to start sprouting wherever he walks and small animals to follow him around. (He practically has the laying-on-hands part down already.) One of my friends dubbed him Japanese Jesus; it is not an entirely inaccurate description. He believes in people! He inspires them! And yet he still has not learned not to get your fingerprints all over every crime scene you come across when you are already wanted for murder. *pets him* It's okay, honey, you try.

Also, because I feel like sharing, the internet has just informed me of a glaring yet amusing translation error in episode ten--in a letter to Tenma, Johan addresses him as 'Mein lieber'; at first I thought this was just a slightly eyebrow-raising male equivalent of 'mein liebe', which, from what X-Men fandom taught me (and X-Men fandom would never lie), is an affectionate way of referring to a young woman. Except, as several online translators have just informed me, 'lieber' actually means 'rather', which makes no sense whatsoever. Oh, writers attempting to add realism by using the language of where the story takes place--you're so sweet. (I mean, I'm slightly disappointed that it wasn't a creepily affectionate term of endearment, but I am amused nonetheless.)

Dubious crossover idea #12: vignettes depicting Germany+Prussia meeting Johan, Japan meeting Kubota, and America meeting Dexter. Every country loves their fictional mass murderers, right? Right!

Ever noticed a close up of a newspaper shown on TV? If like me, you happen to have the time on your hands, it's worth struggling to try and read the rest of the article. As you might imagine, this will never be all about the actual banner headline and so it's fun to see what it says instead. Often it's just an unrelated news story or even the old Lorem ipsum standby but Heroes gave us two lesser approaches this week. Firstly, Noah studying the article on the sinkhole disaster which, when is actually read is an almost startlingly meaningless collection of legalese....

Title: Just Like You Imagined (credit: Nine Inch Nails)

Pairing: Peter Petrelli / Nathan Petrelli

Rating: PG-13

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 09, lack of much plot and general mushiness. Also, my muse is very dependent on my mood so despite my plan to make this a two shot, it may end up being a one shot.

Summary: After weeks at the carnival, Nathan finally has most of his memories back. The first thing he does is go back to his brother, because there's no one else he loves and trusts more.

Part 1 of 2 (Hopefully)

(Is it just me getting the Bee Gees song "Shadow Dancing" stuck in my brain here? Yes? Ok. Just checking. As opposed to one of my very favorite episodes of Babylon 5 which was ACTUALLY called "Shadow Dancing", and that song was stuck in my head for a month straight.)

Load the crack pipe for another week. I'm healing from the burns from last week; that'll teach me to use the internet, ever, for any purpose. I am not quite in a state of grace; it's probably more like denial. But dammit, I love this show. Which is to the show's advantage. If I loved it less, I'd be out of here. But yeah, it's officially into Bad Husband Land; I've got visible bruises, and the neighbors are talking. I'm just waiting it out so I can get the insurance money. Wait; there's no insurance money coming, is there? Soon the show will just be gone, leaving a bittersweet taste in my mouth. And yet, my Bad Husband show still does me better than any show ever has; it loves me, in its own pathetic, twisted way. And I love it too, and I will not leave it. And it still makes me smile and laugh, and what else is there to life? Pride? Heh! If I wanted pride, I'd only watch I, Claudius!

Anyway, enough Tennessee Williams. On to the show!
Say it loud, and there's music playing! )
Keep 'em rolling, NBC! I'll be here wrestling with my antenna every Monday night, sloshing around various whiskey drinks, and yelling at random moments. Ya got me! Now make your grievin' momma proud!

I'm sure you all know my obscenity-laced thoughts on this, so instead of typing them, I'll merely point out how much I love that Adrian's still making vaguely lewd-sounding comments about Milo, and I'll just leave it at that for now.
